...when people give you a compliment, but feel the need to qualify it?

For example: "Girl!! You look so good for your age!"

What this really means is: "You're 50 years old and look nothing like it, cause there's a certain way your shit is supposed to sag when you're 50." What you should say is "You look so good!" Period. Exclamation point! Question mark might just make you look confused and like an asshole. So stick with the first two.

It's kind of like saying "You're really great at basketball for being in a wheelchair!" You know, because being 50 is similar to having a physical disability. But really. Would you give an insult and qualify it? "Your voice is so annoying for having such a perfectly shaped mouth." It just loses the spark. Your compliments do, too, when you qualify them! "You look gorgeous for being so short." People just remember the last part, and not the good part.

So, next time you give a compliment, think about what you're really saying. Or maybe I just need to shut the hell up and be happy that someone's complimenting me.
