A list of blogs that I love and/or aspire to be better than.
- Sunday Funday Blog - A brand new blog by some dear friends, Meredith and Tony, all about fun ways to spend your time. It's a baby blog and I'm already in love with it. Seriously, I would rent a white van, grow weird facial hair, offer it candy and then take it away forever.
- It Comes to This - In all honesty, I am not the biggest fan of Tumblrs. I much prefer tumblers, filled with strong alcoholic beverages. However, my friend Elizabeth writes like a dream and she's going to be famous for it one day. Plus, she posts pretty cool pictures too, mostly of dive bar bathrooms which feel like home to me.
- The Concrete Loves My Shoes - Not only a great place to peruse entries upon entries of fabulous and unique shoes (see also: shoe porn), but a sexy, hilarious personal blog by my friend, Jason Simone. Jason's also a professional tweeter.
- Take A Stroll... With Rob Delaney - This weekly column is featured on Viceland's blog and is consistently hilarious. I've never found a bro who could be this funny. And thoughtful. Bros probably hate being called thoughtful, but his humor is right on. So, read on, and enjoy.
- Towleroad - A blog made basically for gay men, but a good source of news for LGBT folks. A really approachable source for the legal battles the community faces, and up-to-date information on what new bigotry Michele Bachmann has employed. Plus, Andy Towle, the head blogger, is clearly a Little Monster.
- Autostraddle - A blog made basically for lesbians, but one of my favorites in the world. So funny and interesting with great writers, which you wouldn't expect from lesbians considering how much time they spend on motorcycles, shopping for flannel, and playing softball. Who knew they could be so multi-faceted?
- Penelope Trunk Blog - Career, startup and blogging advice from a tough-talking strong female. Seriously, I'm mostly a new reader to her stuff, but she will make you cry at all the things you've down wrong and then motivate you to be better than her and crush her.
- Oh No They Didn't - Where I go for all my celebrity news. You have to spend some serious time with this blog to appreciate it. It's a community blog, so essentially anyone can post. What's great is that everyone has kind of agreed on a tone, and though a bit childish, it has moments of pure brilliance. These moments often reveal themselves in the comments, so if you have a few hours or days to spare going through entire comment threads of just .gif reactions... this is the blog for you.
- Gawker - The best of the best, except for when they suck.
