vermont, too?!

Vermont just voted. I watched the live broadcast of the vote (thank you, God, for the Internets) and literally tallied it as they called out their votes. There are a lot of mousy people in the legislature. Damn you, people who don't understand the concept of projecting your voice. Not that I imagine there are a lot of theatre/stage lovers in the Vermont legislature, but really...was it really necessary to make me listen so closely that my ear almost melted to my laptop?

100 votes "yes" to override the bigoted Governor's veto of the same-sex marriage bill. Vermont becomes the second state in one week to allow same-sex marriage.

Thank you, Vermont, for being just one more place that I can choose from to have my dream wedding. I'm one step closer from that dream becoming a reality. Now, if I can just find a string quartet who will play Madonna love songs...

Edit: Washington D.C. council UNANIMOUSLY votes to recognize the legal benefits of all marriages (so basically, residents of D.C. can get married in Mass., Conn., Iowa, and Vermont can get married in those states, come back to D.C. and receive full marriage benefits). What a great day!
